RECESSION RELATED

Postby Drummer on Fri Feb 06, 2009 6:53 am

Hi folks,

Im trying to find some 80s music which references the economic recession of the times. I already have Ghost Town by the Specials but Im looking for a couple more. Something like the Smiths, which is a bit gloomy would be good, but it needs to specifically reflect the recession .

Additionally, I need one or two tracks which were upbeat about the recession and optimistic. Maybe something like Here Come The Good Times by A House. Any suggestions would be great.

Hi,

I'm not sure if any of these are what you're looking for--but popular 1980's songs that definitely reflect the economic signs of the times:

1) Bon Jovi--"Livin' on a Prayer" (86)
2) Donna Summer--"She Works Hard for the Money" (83)
3) Pet Shop Boys--"RENT" (87)
4) Bangles--"Manic Monday" (86)
5) Cindy Lauper--"Money Changes Everything"
